Youth & Family

Youth of all ages, backgrounds, and identities are welcome and encouraged to join our community at Plymouth Church. Our desire is to meet them where they’re at, and support them on their journey to who they may become.

We work to inspire, educate, and grow alongside our church youth to create a lasting relationship with God.

Babies through pre-K are engaged in our church nursery with toys and games, and kindergarten through 5th grade attend our Children & Worship class.

Our monthly “Date Night” gives parents a few hours off while kids enjoy an evening of games and crafts at the church, followed by an overnight for the youth group.

Youth Group activities, such as outings around town and our monthly “Let’s Talk About That” pizza night are open to 6th through 12th graders, and are listed on our calendar. And we invite all of our younger participants to lend their talents to our church service the last Sunday of each month, reading liturgy, greeting, singing, etc.

We plan all-church events throughout the year, and whether or not you’re a member of Plymouth, your kids are always welcome to join us.

Julia Schulte, Youth and Family Director

Mission Outreach

Our Mission-Outreach Team strives to apply the resources of Plymouth Church to the loving service of those in need in our community and beyond. We organize, lead and/or promote a variety of mission-outreach activities throughout the year.

Outreach activities include our monthly Plymouth Cares meals for the homeless, collecting necessities for the unsheltered, quarterly blood drives, sponsoring two youth in Uganda, bell ringing for the Salvation Army, Heifer Project, Christmas toy drive, and our Pastor’s Benevolence Fund for local outreach.

An important part of Missions is keeping our congregation updated about how and where we are serving, and upcoming opportunities to get involved and contribute, such as supporting the above activities as well as the Loaves & Fishes food pantry, relief for disasters, the winter-season warming center, and the wonderful works of the United Church of Christ.

As we seek to be a blessing in doing God’s work, we find that those who do the helping are also being abundantly blessed. We invite our church family and others who desire to help make a difference to join in sharing Christ’s love with our community and our world.

John Svinth, Missions-Outreach Board Chair

Diaconate

Diaconate has a hand in all things worship, fellowship, and membership.

We schedule greeters, ushers, liturgists, and acolytes; oversee Communion Sundays and our annual “Church in the Park” gathering; make sure there are flowers on the chancel each Sunday, and snacks for fellowship after service.

We also keep our finger on the pulse of the elements of our worship service, helping to find the balance in bringing a service that is a beautiful and diverse as our members and attendees.

Staying connected to our people is essential, and we do our best to help out whenever there’s a need.

None of this happens without our incredible team. If you’re interested in being part of this work, we would love to have you join us.

Sharon Rowe, Diaconate Board Chair

Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is responsible for the business and financial affairs of the church, overseeing pledge programs and giving to support the work of our church, and making sure our facilities, including our income properties, are well managed.

We take seriously the intersection of financial stewardship and doing the work of the Gospel—knowing that we have been abundantly blessed and are accountable for how we care for and utilize all of our resources.

Bill Krum, Trustees Board Chair
